Teaching can be both a rewarding and challenging profession. It is critical for teachers to prioritise their own well-being and professional development in order to be more effective and engaging educators.
In this online event, we will look at the intersection of personal well-being and professional development for teachers, and how it can improve the school environment.
The underpinning themes are Personal Well-being, Positive Culture, and Hope.
The event will explore how teachers can improve their own wellbeing and personal development and, by doing so, enhance their influence with students, create a positive school culture and progress their professional development.
Speakers will be Kheron Gilpin, Paul Brightly-Jones and Dr Ella Harris.
Kheron is an engaging motivational speaker with over 12 years of experience working with young people in schools, pupil referral units, prisons, and other community settings, He is a community engagement specialist with extensive experience in facilitating meaningful dialogue.
Paul Brightly-Jones is the manager of a primary behavior support service. He has worked in education and community service for more than 30 years. He is passionate about helping school leaders, parents, caregivers, and children. Paul has played a significant role in promoting the rights of young people and optimizing processes to enhance their communities and quality of life.
Dr. Ella Harris is a theorist, researcher, and writer. She has led research projects with students in schools as well as with young people experiencing difficulties such as homelessness and mental health struggles. She specialises in "crisis cultures" and in creative ways of conducting and communicating research. She has published widely on her work including her book Rebranding Precarity (Zed Books, 2020).
